George W. Bush famously called himself "the decider."
There is an idea that people selected by majorities in elections have the right to decide, to make decisions for us.
We have selected them for this role.
Frequently, we don't like the decisions made by the officials we elect. But we are compelled to honor those decisions. The elected are chosen "leaders" and they make "laws" and issue "orders" on our behalf.
Those laws and orders are enforced by armed people called "police" who we pay to perform that role.
This entire system is so deeply flawed that we are now ruled by (NOT represented by) selfish clueless villains of such profound ignorance and cruelty that they have virtually enslaved billions of people to serve them while simultaneously destroying the habitability of the Earth.
Now we feel stuck. After all, we approved this and leaders are exercising their rightfully authority.
But we are leaving some things out in this analysis, aren't we?
In fact, this entire system is an open fraud. We all know this, don't we?
We do. We know that politicians are essentially owned by wealthy people who fund their elections. These wealthy people produce nothing and they control everything, in part through the politicians they've purchased. The politicians represent those rich people—not us.
There is no representative government.
This entire charade is used to bless plutocracy (and nowadays fascism) with the veneer of legitimacy. But we know we are being ruled, not served.
Let's make this clear, explicit and unavoidable with our words and actions. Let's speak the truth. Let's live the truth. Let's shred the veneer of legitimacy. We are being ruled by force, not consent.
Even the people who selected the current rogues are angry and afraid after losing their healthcare, their farms, their food stamps.
What Now?
We should not let destructive and cruel thugs decide anything for us.
We should tell them that we do not recognize their authority and that their behavior is disgusting and stupid and will not be honored by decent people anywhere.
There is no "election"—even if it wasn't controlled and corrupted by rich fools—that can justify forcing billions of people worldwide to waste their short sacred lives producing unnecessary crap—or nothing at all—for the profit of greedy idiots.
Oh, and I do mean "idiots." That not just an expression of anger.
What is the accurate way to describe rich clueless people who literally order the destruction of the planet they live on, a planet that must sustain them and their children and future generations?
I think "idiots" is actually too kind. But I digress.
Anyway, we decent people need to talk and work out ways—both individually and collectively—how to disobey, withdraw our cooperation, sabotage and defeat the very stupid thugs who rule us.
We must remember that we number in the billions and they number only in the thousands. They do no work and we do all the work. This gives us power.
We must also remember that there have been many successful revolutions and not a single one required (or had) a unified population of revolutionaries.
Indeed, now as always, most people are mere onlookers. Those who care actually take action.
The truth is, the revolution—the assertion by The People of their rights and their power—has begun.
Now, it needs to be accelerated and focused.
We need to act both within and in defiance of the existing corrupt system.
So, we must organize to defeat fascists in the coming mid-terms. We must do this knowing the fascists will do everything they can to cheat and steal an election they cannot possibly win honestly.
But that's just one part, isn't it? Because the whole point is that their rules are corrupt and their "authority" is illegitimate.
So, here's some additional things we can and should do:
- Openly and publicly reject their authority, clearly and forcefully.
In writing. In conversation. At public meetings held by the so-called authorities. - Withdraw—increasingly—support of and obedience to so-called "authorities."
What we can do will will vary by person and time, but we will always strive to do more and ultimately sweep away not only the villains, but also the systems that empower them. These tactics include taking videos to expose evil, ignoring their lies by tuning out their media, quiet quitting jobs that help them, encouraging friends, relatives and acquaintances to resign from enforcement roles (ICE, police, military, etc).
Shunning, we are coming to realize, is a powerful tactic. We are shunning MAGA voters now that the regime is hurting them, and they are pleading for our sympathy and support. (They have not changed; they continue to welcome the suffering of others. Now, as always, they care only about themselves.)
Let's openly and publicly shun the violent collaborators in ICE, in police forces, in the military. We do not honor troops who drop bombs on civilians in service to a regime guilty of crimes against humanity.
Tell these people to resign, to reclaim their humanity—or lose their humanity and friends and relatives forever.
What's The Goal Here?
It look like we are simply planning an attack, creating a plan to destroy evil systems and dis-empower and punish evil behavior.
And that is what we are doing. But we are doing more than that.
Because, before the fascists, we were abused by the plutocrats. Because the latter were less openly brutal, many seek a return to those times.
Those who oppose fascism but embrace plutocracy are called—astoundingly!—"moderates."
Those who want a humane civilization focused on life and the health of the planet are—get ready!—called "extremists." Or communists. Or whatever tired labels exploiters and fools can pin on reasonable caring people.
But we won't be arguing with them because we are done listening to them. We are talking with and listening to each other. We are plotting to seize our freedom, free billions from lives of senseless labor for profit, and heal our planet.
We know that our opponents are so vile, so evil that they will brutalize and kill all of us—including their own offspring and themselves—given the chance.
But WE WILL NOT GIVE THEM THE CHANCE. We will not let this happen.
How can we stop it? By NOT carrying out their orders. By doing something else.
So, instead of wasting our lives in servitude to idiots to earn money to survive under a brutal corrupt system, we will help ourselves and others. We will live our lives fully, as human beings—not as degraded servants.
Freedom. Life. Love.
This is our destiny. We need only commit to it. Personally. As individuals. Don't fret about what others do. You should simply lead by example. Others WILL follow. Not everyone. But enough.
More than enough.
What will this new humane and loving civilization look like?
It will look like communities. People who live together, who work and play and share. Who care.
People who never work for profit or for bosses, but only to produce what people need. Food. Medicine. Shelter.
Community.
We—not the elites—produce everything now. We will continue to produce.
But only what's needed. We are aware that production costs us in time. That we sacrifice part of our limited lifespans (and limited energy) to production.
So, because we value life more than stuff, we won't waste our lives in cubicles, shops, or factory floors producing useless crap.
We chose life. And we share those necessities we produce with whoever needs them. This is the civilization we want to live in.
And with this sharply reduced workload, nobody will be more than a part-time and none of us will report to bosses. We will all be spending most of our time LIVING.
By the way, we won't care about possible slackers. Slackers won't be able to seize wealth or abuse others because there will be no positions of power or piles of excessive wealth to hoard. Money itself won't exist.
Slackers won't be punished either. They will be given the food and shelter and medicine they need. They will, however, have fewer friends and be accorded less respect than others.
Meanwhile, our communities will enjoy life. We will express ourselves in art, writing, song, theatre—every way we choose. And we will enjoy and be stimulated by the art of others.
We will care for and restore the Earth. We will take walks and hikes in Nature to restore ourselves.
We will explore, study, learn and advance science in service to our species and the species that share this planet with us.
This new society will not be perfect. We will still age, sicken and die. Tragedies will not end.
But it will be beautiful, joyful, wonderful. Make it happen.
